Don’t be scammed by Ricky Shanholtz and R and R painting of Inwood WV, like I was

A case study in bad workmanship and even worse people.

He took me and my general contractor for thousands of dollars please don’t be the next.

Shandoah county court (Case number 23.180)

I am the owner of a home that Ricky Shanholtz of R and R painting was contracted to prep and paint, and can attest that he utterly failed to live up to his end of the work. I delayed this review until after the court case was settled so it would to not be seen as my word versus his. This matter has been settled by the court and R and R painting was found liable for the damages.

Please don't believe me, believe the Shenandoah county court (Case number 23.180) where I had to sue him for damages, of which he has yet to pay.

Ricky Shanholtz from R and R painting was contracted to pressure wash, scrape, caulk, prep, and paint my house. Virtually no prep work was done, and he painted over my brand-new windows, concrete sidewalks, and HVAC unit.

I find it hard to believe that any prep work was done when he painted over multiple plants growing up the side of the house, and that literal trash was painted into the porch. When confronted with the issues, I was told by Ricky that "It is what it is" and that I should have provided him primer. Primer does not fix painting over dirt, plants, and already peeling paint, nor does it help when you paint windows, concrete walkways, and HVAC units.

In short, Ricky Shanholtz of R and R painting was paid to do work that he failed to do and when provided multiple opportunities to fix the issues refused to do so. Eventually both my general contractor and myself had to take him to court to get judgments for his damages.

I'd only recommend R and R painting if you want to pay to get it done a second time and like having threatening voice mails left on your phone after you have to take them to court and win.

Ricky Shanholtz claims in his advertisements that he is licensed and insured, his WV contractors licenses expired in November of 2022.
